Rural Living and Place Making

Welcome at Rural Living and Place Making Project Website

The project was funded by Carnegie Trust Fund and was conducted by Dr Emilia Pietka-Nykaza from the University of the West of Scotland, and Helen Baillot, an independent researcher based in the Highlands.

Rural Living and Place Making captures the experiences of diverse rural stayers including international migrants (EU nationals), internal migrants (UK nationals) and local stayers (people born and raised in Highlands) living in the Inner Moray Firth area of the Scottish Highlands.  The project provides critical new insights into the ways in which diverse rural stayers contribute to rural place making and rural community living.
